This New Text/Image to Video (Luma AI) is AMAZING

We finally have a free text-to-video software called Luma AI. On the left-hand side, you can see Luma AI, and on the right-hand side, this is the video from OpenAI Sora. Is the quality of the video from Luma AI as good as OpenAI Sora? Absolutely not, but still, for a free software, this is incredible. As you can see, the quality of the video on the left-hand side from Luma is not that great, but still, it's pretty impressive as far as the movement because the prompt is pretty much the same for OpenAI Sora.

While Luma is still impressive, especially for something that is free, a lot cheaper, and most importantly, available for people to use and experiment with, I'm sure they're going to get a lot better. For OpenAI, this is still a closed box; we don't know what was used to generate these crisp videos. They could have done a bunch of editing for these to look like this. For Luma AI, this is done via a prompt and a picture, so it's still very impressive. There are a lot of unknowns from Sora.

Video Comparison: Tour of the Art Gallery

This is a video comparison of a tour of an art gallery. Luma AI does a good job of going through and understanding the prompt. I did not upload a picture on this one; I just copy-pasted the prompt that says, "tour of an art gallery with many beautiful works of art in different styles," and this is what it generated. Still pretty impressive—the image is crisp, not as crisp as OpenAI Sora, but still very good in my opinion. It captures the essence of the prompt with the camera zooming in and identifying different art pieces.

Understanding Luma AI

Let's go through and understand what this new free Luma AI or Luma Dream Machine is. You can go to Luma Labs, and this is their main page. You can click on the top right-hand corner and press "Try Now." You can sign up with an email, and they show a few of the generations that the community has built. These are extremely impressive, and I would imagine they are made using pictures. If you just put a prompt, it doesn't do a good job of generating it from scratch, but if you attach a picture and then put a prompt in there, it does a really good job.

Community Creations

Here's a great example of what Luma is capable of doing. There's an account called "Afraid to Sleep," and they made an incredible video using Luma AI. I'm assuming they attached images and added prompts for how the images or the camera moves and the scenes are designed. It's very impressive. This is made by "Afraid to Sleep," and you can tell the quality of the video produced by introducing images and adding motion or describing the motions in the prompt.

You can go to Luma Labs and see from the community the creations on their main page. If you click on the creators, it will take you to their Instagram page, where you can see other generations they've created. Most of the links are from Instagram because that's where the creators have posted the majority of their creations using Luma AI.
