Hey everyone,
This short article is primarily for Cubase users, but if you keep reading, we'll also explore a cool tool for other DAWs. If you've ever reached out to Steinberg support and didn't get a quick response, raise your hand. I've been there; it took them a whole six months to get back to me on an issue I had. In the meantime, I managed to solve it myself by searching forums, Facebook groups, and using Google, but that took time—time that could be better spent doing more productive things, like making these videos for you.
Well, I found a little tool that acts as an assistant and might help you solve an issue faster than reaching out to support or searching the internet. Introducing Cubase Ultimate Assistant GPT. I'm not sure who created this tool, but it's an AI chatbot that can answer almost any question you have about Cubase and is fully capable of answering questions up to and including version 13 of Cubase. So, let's take a look.
I've put a link to this Cubase Ultimate Assistant in the description below, and the opening screen looks very familiar if you've ever used ChatGPT. I'm going to ask it how to autosave a project. Let's just click in there: "how to autosave a project," and I'll have it think for a bit. Searching its knowledge, it may be a little slow depending on the time of day, but there you go. We have step-by-step instructions on how to go about doing this.
Let's get a bit more adventurous and ask: "how do you time stretch an audio clip to fit your project tempo?" After a moment of thinking, there we go. We have a full set of instructions on how to time stretch. Not only just one set of instructions, but we actually get instructions for all three ways of time-stretching within Cubase. Just scroll down a bit, and there you go. Fantastic.
So, we've got time for one more. Let's ask it: "how do you set up a macro so I can use one key command to quantize both the start and end of each MIDI event?" After waiting a bit, it will fire back step-by-step instructions on how to set this up as a macro. It's just absolutely amazing.
Now, for those who don't use Cubase, there's good news. There are similar assistants out there for several DAWs, and I've put their links in the description below. You can explore GPTs for your DAW of choice. For instance, you can go for Logic Pro. If I go to Logic Pro Expert, I can actually do something in Logic Pro. Now, I've never used Logic myself, but we could say: "how do I use a compressor in Logic?" After a bit of thinking, there you go. It gives you instructions on how to do something in Logic.
You can do this for several DAWs, and I've found quite a few and put them in the description below. If you enjoyed this short article, remember to subscribe to the channel so you don't miss out on more music tips and news. In the meantime, stay creative, stay sonic, and I'll catch you in the next one.
