FIRST LOAD WITH BRAND NEW LOWBOY
Entertainment
Introduction
In this exciting video, we head out to The Wood Yard to pick up a new addition to the fleet—a 2024 Trail King lowboy trailer. The anticipation builds as we prepare to load a track hoe onto this fresh piece of equipment.
Upon arrival at The Wood Yard, the vibrant atmosphere is clear, and there’s an array of equipment scattered around. It’s a sight to behold, with machinery waiting to be loaded and transported. Today, I'm ready for my second load with this lowboy, following a successful first haul with a grinder.
The focus is on the brand new 55-ton Trail King lowboy trailer, and I’m thrilled to share this experience with you. As we start loading, it's important to note a few pros and cons about the trailer. One of my main concerns is the paint; I’m determined to keep it scratch-free, a challenge in this line of work.
Loading the track hoe is a bit of a different feel; the trailer is taller than the Fontaine and Caitlyn trailers I've previously worked with. Despite this, it provides a comfortable ride while hauling heavy equipment. From my experience, both Trail King and Kaufman trailers excel in how they handle weight—much like this new addition.
Although I have some reservations regarding height and the placement of the truck jack, overall, the lowboy rides like a dream. After securing the load, I realize that there's a better technique for preventing any damage; I’ll be using a piece of wood as a buffer for the track hoe's shank.
Moving on, day two sees me dropping off the track hoe and picking up a dozer. This is the first time I've loaded a dozer on a lowboy with ramp overs, and I instantly appreciate how much easier it makes the chaining process. The ramp overs allow me to place the dozer’s blade securely, solving a common problem avid hauliers face when loading.
Finally, I head to drop off the second load before embarking on another pick-up. Driving through the sunny skies elevates my spirits as I go about the tasks ahead. Paying attention to how the equipment is aligned on the trailer is key, ensuring that both sides remain even.
Here is an overview of what’s been covered in today's adventure with the new lowboy.
