    Hermitcraft 10: Episode 22 - DOORS & BUILDS

    Introduction

Welcome back to Hcraft Season 10! This is Episode 22, and we are now on Minecraft 1.21. I almost wish I had made one less episode; the number is a bit disappointing, but let's move ahead! With new updates, we now have trial chambers, new blocks, armadillos, and other exciting bits and bobs to explore. I'm eager to get to grips with these over the next few weeks. For now, I've been doing some building and reading through your comments on the previous episode about the safe storage area.

This is the input for my storage system. First off, I've changed the sign; the new Birch trap doors behind the warp trap doors look significantly better. However, I couldn't resist adding some signature touches, akin to our dro to o on Ron that is switched off. I love the look of 'off' - it adds so much character. I've also added a few extra blocks. I'd say this build is now fully complete. Every build in this area needs some form of a business card, and here's what I've created - a quirky 3D word art with a comical slogan. Despite the lack of security (all containers are open), I'm thrilled with how it ties everything together. Safe Storage is now a part of Magic Mountain Row.

We are moving now to the shopping district. Interestingly, I've received a message from the popo; it sounds positive for once or at least not about another strike on my stores.

    Mr. Mumbo?

Out of nowhere, scar and renor surprised me with the news that they need a master of doors to build a motorcycle door for them. They wanted it to open by shooting a target block and playing some cool 80's music while it rolls down. They also mentioned they’d blow up shops, adding pressure on me as I'm already struggling to stock my shops and on a yellow warning.

The popo have been lenient, but that’s going to change. They need the door ASAP. So, with the understanding that the popo call the shots, I agreed.

All set to tackle the Redstone project, I made a plan to design a rolling door using slime block and honey block flying machines to retract the door into the ground.

Digging the space, I realized we needed quite a big hole. However, I miscalculated the floor level but soon set that right. Our first test of the piston layout worked seamlessly.

Next, I constructed spam protection circuits to prevent the Redstone from breaking due to quick succession shots on the target block. This was essential given the nature of the Hermitcraft server. I added an external opener using pressure plates and target blocks again for options.

After setting up the complicated wiring, pulse extenders and finally adding the note block, I encountered a humorous realization: Target blocks require a comparator to measure the quality of the shot. Nonetheless, the system seemed to strike the right balance even without this precision.

Finally, I made the décor tweaks and surrounded Redstone with immovable objects like calite for safety. The popo piston door is now done, with protection, an external opener, and music-triggering capabilities.

So far, it looks and functions perfectly. I hope scar and renor enjoy their new door!
