Hermitcraft 10: Episode 24 - MY BANNED SHOP

    blog thumbnail

    Introduction

Welcome back to Hermitcraft Season 10! In this episode, I’ve been quite busy working on my new iron shop, which is designed to efficiently convert iron drops from my iron farm into iron blocks. This new setup will allow me to stock my iron shop easily.

    Facing Challenges

While stocking my shop late at night, I noticed something shocking: my previous shop, the "Permanent Iron Pile," was gone! Despite my hard efforts to gather iron and build it, it seems to have been labeled as a pop-up shop. I was fuming. What could have happened to all the iron blocks I had stocked? After checking with other shops and finding empty chests, my frustration only increased.

    Lighthearted Mischief

After a bit of turmoil about my shop's fate, I decided to let out some steam by having some lighthearted fun at my fellow Hermit, Skizzleman’s expense—drawing a silly mustache on his sign and enhancing it with cheeky decorations. A good laugh went a long way during such a stressful situation!

    New Build Inspiration

Shifting gears, it was time to focus on building the replacement for my iron shop. I wanted to create something inspired by an old iron mine. After testing various designs in a creative world, I was excited to work with lots of resources, including many wood types, copper, and more.

Unfortunately, I struggled to find tough, a vital resource for my build, leading me to scour the shopping district. The once-bustling area now boasts impressive shops but has become hard to navigate. After a search, I finally found a sizable tough vein in the mines that made gathering resources relatively quick.

    Building the New Iron Shop

With all my resources gathered, I eagerly got to work on constructing my new shop. The design features exposed machinery and a beautiful block palette, aiming to bring the mine's vibe to life. This build also includes clever user experience features, such as elevators that transport shoppers to and from the shop.

However, as I progressed, the unoxidized copper I used sparked annoyance, as I had to be patient for it to age naturally. Hours went by, and some parts remained shiny and new.

To enhance the build further, I integrated sound effects from note blocks, complementing the mine’s lively atmosphere. Once I was pleased with the sounds and interiors, it was time to complete the shop’s exterior and surrounding area.

    Final Touches and Opening

The transformation was remarkable! Adding details like packed mud gave the area more life, drawing attention to how the build fit comfortably within its environment. Finally, after overcoming hurdles, I proudly opened the new iron shop, receiving compliments from fellow Hermits like Grian.

    An Exciting Conclusion

Reflecting on the journey to create this shop, I realized I had been focusing deeply on smaller side projects, but I’m also aware of the impending deadlines I set for myself. There’s still a lot of building to be done in the coming weeks, and I genuinely can’t wait to continue this wonderful adventure in Hermitcraft!
