Welcome to another episode of the Talking Hyvä podcast and the Hoover YouTube channel. If you're a returning viewer, welcome back! It's an absolute pleasure to have you here. I'm Rebecca Brockton, the Community Manager at Hoover, and today, we have an exciting discussion lined up about integrating content management with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Edge Delivery Services, seamlessly integrating with Hoover and Adobe Commerce.
This project was a collaborative research endeavor between Hoover and our partner, Nets 98 valantic. We're joined by a dream team of three experts who have been instrumental in this integration: Christian Munch, Vinai Kopp, and Jeroen Vlamakis.
Rebecca Brockton: Let's get started with some quick introductions. Christian, could you please introduce yourself?
Christian Munch: Hi, I'm Christian, working for valantic, a European-based company focusing on digitalization. I'm the tech lead for the Competence Center in Germany, specializing in Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce, among other Adobe tools. Our division, the SE division, has over 1,000 people, with 350 experts focused on Magento and Adobe Commerce.
Vinai Kopp: I'm Vinai Kopp, a Senior Technical Director at Hoova Theme. It's been a lot of fun building this integration.
Jeroen Vlamakis: Hi, I'm Jeroen. I'm a front-end developer at Hoova, mainly working at the UI. I contributed my front-end skills in implementing the user experience of EDS within Hoova.
EDS, also known as Edge Delivery Services, contains various tools and services provided by Adobe for publishing, editing, and managing content. The project started focusing on a new way to publish content for Adobe Experience Manager and later added support for Adobe Commerce.
EDS includes document-based authoring, allowing users to create and publish content directly from Word documents or Excel sheets. This content is then converted and published to an edge server close to the user, ensuring rapid delivery.
The integration of Hoova with EDS offers a seamless experience. EDS is known for its speed and efficiency in content delivery, which aligns perfectly with Hoova's focus on performance. The collaboration between EDS and Hoova allows for comprehensive feature coverage and flexibility, suitable for both B2C and B2B sites.
Vinai provided a live demonstration showing how content is managed and rendered using EDS and Hoova. The integration ensures that users experience seamless transitions between content pages managed by EDS and e-commerce pages managed by Hoova. The demonstration showcased the shared headers and footers, maintaining consistency across the site.
Christian explained the simplified technical architecture of the integration. It utilizes a front CDN solution (Fastly, in this case) that directs traffic either to Adobe's CDN for EDS content or to the Adobe Commerce system with Hoova themes. This setup ensures full control of data loading.
Jeroen discussed the ease and efficiency of implementing CSS and JavaScript within this integration. The goal was to maintain the same styling and functionality across both EDS and Adobe Commerce, using vanilla JavaScript and Tailwind for consistent user experience.
Christian mentioned that several large sites, including Adobe's own business site, are using EDS. The technology is robust and reliable, making it an excellent choice for customers. Future enhancements will continue to build on this strong foundation.
In conclusion, the integration of EDS with Hoova offers significant benefits in terms of speed, performance, and feature coverage. We're excited to see how customers will utilize this robust solution.
