Introduction to NeuralToneAI - your virtual colorist assistant

Film & Animation

Introduction

NeuralToneAI is a revolutionary tool that acts as your virtual colorist, developed from eight distinct neural networks designed exclusively for cinematic color grading. With NeuralToneAI, users can receive tailored suggestions for color grading their images, making it a powerful asset for filmmakers and photographers alike.

How NeuralToneAI Works

Upon processing an image through NeuralToneAI, the AI generates eight color grading suggestions based on the unique context of your image. Unlike static presets or pre-made looks that apply the same adjustments across all images, NeuralToneAI evaluates your images similarly to how a human colorist would. Each neural network model has its style and preference, ensuring that you can find several grades that align with your creative vision.

To access NeuralToneAI, users must subscribe to the Pro Plan within Film AI. The tool can be integrated into your workflow either as a standalone tool or accessed via the contextual menu under the media tab.

Adding NeuralToneAI as a Tool

To use NeuralToneAI as a tool within your image editing process, click on the NeuralToneAI option located in the controls tab. Please note that the controls will only be available after you've loaded an image and selected the appropriate input and output transforms. Once you've added NeuralToneAI to your image, it will analyze the photo and present its color grading suggestions as thumbnails. You can resize the column for a better preview and collapse previous columns for an unobstructed view of your edits.

Once analyzed, NeuralToneAI saves these suggestions within the app, allowing for instant access when the same image is loaded again in the future. If you wish to apply a NeuralToneAI grade to another image, you can copy it as a candidate without further analysis. For fresh suggestions based on a different image, simply use the regenerate button to recalculate.

Contextual Menu Access for Batch Processing

Apart from using NeuralToneAI as a tool, users can access it via the contextual menu in the media tab. Select the three dots next to your asset, choose the NeuralToneAI option, and pick the desired AI model for processing. This ability is particularly beneficial for batch processing where you can select multiple assets and apply the same AI model.

After generating grades for multiple images, it's recommended to use the compare view to evaluate your work. From here, you can save your adjustments as candidates, ensuring that your grades are safely stored for future use.

Exporting and Refining Your Grades

You have the option to export your grades as LUTs, XMP profiles, or Capture One Styles. If you're a still photographer, saving high-resolution versions of your graded images will be crucial.

A practical approach to utilizing NeuralToneAI is to establish a base look for your shoot. By combining this base with specific color adjustments (like color film boosts or white point adjustments), you can maintain overall grade characteristics while tailoring specific settings to suit different images.
