Making YouTube thumbnails with AI #photoshoptutorial #youtubethumbnail

Howto & Style

Introduction

Creating eye-catching thumbnails is crucial for attracting viewers to your YouTube videos. In this article, I’ll share my experience using Photoshop Beta to enhance a still image taken from a video clip of my team in front of our van, set against a picturesque mountain backdrop. By integrating AI features in Photoshop Beta, I was able to easily manipulate and create a unique thumbnail that embodies the essence of Yellowstone.

Capturing the Scene

To kick things off, I captured a frame from the video footage in Adobe Premiere Pro. This still image showcased us in front of our van against a backdrop of green hills. However, I felt the background didn’t adequately represent the iconic characteristics of Wyoming.

Transforming the Background

Once I imported the image into Photoshop Beta, I began the process of selecting and replacing different sections of the photo. My first task was to replace the existing background with something more representative of the region. I prompted the AI by entering, “add snowy mountains similar to Grand Teton.” The AI provided me with three different options, and I chose my favorite one.

Adding Iconic Elements

Building on the new background, I continued to enhance the image by adding other quintessential Yellowstone elements. I selected a section of the image and prompted the AI with, “add a geyser similar to Old Faithful and a herd of bison on the hill.” This addition was vital in conveying the feel of Yellowstone and incorporating elements that viewers would instantly recognize.

The Final Reveal

After experimenting with various elements and adjustments, I was ready to reveal the final thumbnail. While I recognize that the end result may not be hyper-realistic, it offers a whimsical, storybook feel that effectively captures the spirit of Yellowstone. Overall, I believe it works well as an attention-grabbing YouTube thumbnail that invites viewers in.
