Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Riddhi Pandya, and I'm currently a student at NIFT Daman pursuing textile design as my bachelor's degree. In this field, practical experience is as important as theoretical knowledge, if not more. For this vacation, I'm interning as an assistant designer in a Surat-based company called Irika Fashion, which comes under the Sahiba Group.
Going out into the industry and actually applying the knowledge and skills that I have learned at NIFT has proved to be a very important part of my journey. It has taught me a lot about the design process, how a garment goes from an idea to production, and all the stages of production. More than anything else, I learned how to find a balance between my ideas and what the market needs, which is really important as a designer.
Along with that, making connections with people who have been working in this field for a while also teaches you a lot about how things actually work and gives you a lot of confidence. I'm very thankful to Anand Sir for pointing me in this direction and for the constant support and guidance that I get.
