The best part is that the form will adapt to whatever screen size they are using.

When they fill out the form, their responses will automatically populate your Excel spreadsheet, eliminating any risk that they might mess up your data. Since the form and the spreadsheet are separate, this setup ensures a tidy and error-free data collection process. Moreover, you can also validate the data entries; for example, you can require that a number is entered for certain fields.

This is by far the best way to gather data into Microsoft Excel, and I will guide you step-by-step on how you can achieve this.

Creating a Modern Excel Data Entry Form

To get started, head over to the Office website. A quick note before we proceed: you need a work or school account to use this feature. Unfortunately, it does not work with personal Microsoft accounts, even if you are a Microsoft 365 subscriber.

1. Sign In:

   • Click on 'Sign In' and enter your credentials on office.com.
   • Once signed in, click on the Excel icon on the left-hand side.

2. Set Up a New Workbook:

   • On the Excel start page, click on 'New Blank Workbook'.
