NEW VAN - DAY SEVEN - Window Screens and Storage Solutions
Entertainment
Introduction
Today, I dove deep into my camping gear as I organized everything from my old SUV to my new van. My first task was to locate the netting for the window coverings I had stored away. I hoped the ones from my SUV would fit the van's windows, but after rummaging through boxes, I discovered one net that was clearly too large for the big window. Unfortunately, it wasn't a match, so I decided I'd need to order special screens for the front windows to allow for proper ventilation.
Next, I addressed a minor issue in the van: the lack of a sunglass holder. In my previous SUV, I had a great pull-down holder for my sunglasses, but it was missing in the van. To solve this, I ordered some cool clips that could fit on the visor. I quickly opened them and attached one to the outside of the visor with my reading glasses now stored safely above me. I ordered another clip for the other visor and found a perfect spot for it, which meant no more losing my glasses!
Moving on, I turned my attention to the sliding glass door behind the driver's seat. I needed to remove the panel to add a sound barrier and insulation. To my delight, the panel popped off easily, revealing some existing insulation and making me realize that, while it looked alright, I preferred to add my own materials. After a brief moment of hesitation, I decided to replace the insulation rather than keep the old one. There was a small hole I discovered, but I planned to seal it with new insulation or a panel, ensuring it remained secure.
After a quick break to install crossbars on my mom's SUV (which looked fantastic!), I returned to the van. Remembering a suggestion from a viewer, I found some spacers for additional storage between the seats and the console. These added a perfect little cubby for keeping my mic and my favorite music. Now, instead of clutter lying around, everything had a place.
Lastly, I received an order from Living in a Bubble that contained giant bug screens for the back and side windows. I was ecstatic to try them out. Upon opening the package, I saw the screens came beautifully organized, making it easy to keep them neat in the van. However, while I managed to fit them on the windows, I had some initial difficulty with one of the screens fitting correctly. I realized it might not be designed to wrap fully around the mirror area, but I am considering watching tutorials to better understand the installation process.
In conclusion, today was productive, tackling various storage solutions and preparing the van for those summer camping trips. As I packed up for the day, I figured I’d take some time to research the bug screens and plan my next steps.
