Reflect AI

In this article, we're going to explore the features and functionality of Reflect's new AI assistant. This powerful tool offers numerous capabilities that can significantly enhance your productivity. We'll walk through a few key features to get you started.

Getting Started with Reflect AI

First, let's look at how you can interact with Reflect AI. Imagine you have a blog post saved in your Reflect notes. You need to highlight the text and then activate the assistant. There are two ways to do this: click on the magic wand icon to the right or use the keyboard shortcut Command + J. This assistant is designed to enable full keyboard operation, minimizing the need for a mouse.

Extracting Key Takeaways

When dealing with a blog post, you may only be interested in the key takeaways. After highlighting the text, click on "List Key Takeaways." The AI assistant will generate a summary in the box below. Once it's finished, you have a few options:

  • Replace the highlighted text with the key takeaways.
  • Insert the key takeaways below the existing text.
  • Try generating the summary again.
  • Copy the text to use it elsewhere outside Reflect. For our example, we'll hit "Replace" to keep the key takeaways.

Writing Assistance

Reflect AI also offers robust writing assistance. Suppose you're working on a couple of sentences for a blog post. Click on the magic wand icon and select "Continue writing in the same style." If you're not satisfied with the generated content, you can use the "Try Again" option. Once you're happy, you can insert the new text below your existing content.

Creative Uses

The assistant isn't limited to text you already have. By using Command + J, you can pull up the editor and get creative. For instance, you could ask it to "write me a poem about note-taking in Arabic." The generated poem will appear in the box below, and you can copy it and use it as needed.

Custom Commands

Custom commands are another powerful feature. Using Command + J again, type in your desired action, like "email." Suppose you want to create a podcast guest invitation. You'd type "podcast guest invitation" and hit Command + Return. The assistant will generate email content for you. You can then copy this text or insert it into your Reflect notes for future use.

Community and Support

The best way to get acquainted with Reflect AI is to experiment. Once you're comfortable, you can join the Reflect Discord community. Here, you can share and explore various workflows and use cases for Reflect AI. The workflow channel offers valuable insights into how different users are leveraging the assistant's capabilities.
