This experiment made me realize the potential productivity gains offered by AI tools, setting the stage for today's discussion.

To provide more context, let's delve into an example project involving the implementation of a travel management point-of-sale (POS) tool across multiple countries.

Project Plan Requirements

I prompted ChatGPT with:

"I have an assignment to implement a travel management POS tool for a company in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Denmark. Can you define a project plan and list phases, milestones, and tasks?"

ChatGPT responded by asking for more details, such as company size, current POS system, specific requirements, and more. This aligns well with the questions a project manager should ask at the beginning of a project.

Stakeholders Identification

Next, I moved on to identifying stakeholders by asking:

"Please describe the stakeholders for developing an application for a supermarket that will be used by customers and should drive traffic to the store."

ChatGPT generated a comprehensive list of stakeholders, including internal teams like project managers, development teams, and marketing teams, as well as external stakeholders such as customers and suppliers.

When asked to list the risks involved in such a project and put them in a risk register, ChatGPT provided a detailed table outlining potential risks, impacts, likelihood, and mitigation strategies. This was quite useful, especially for initial brainstorming sessions.

When asked to describe the means of communication to be deployed, it offered options like kickoff meetings, weekly project meetings, and status reports, further illustrating AI's capability to aid in project management tasks.
