Hey everyone! It's our first night ever in Japan, and we're staying at a capsule hotel in Tokyo. This particular hotel welcomes both men and women, but the floors are divided by gender. Little did we know while booking that this hotel is located in Koreatown. So, if you're into K-pop and Korean food, you're in luck!
Upon arrival, we headed straight to the reception desk on the eighth floor to check in. My locker number was 543. Let's take a look at our guide sheets. By the way, it's super quiet inside the locker room. Inside the locker, an amenity bag was waiting for us.
We packed away our belongings like a jigsaw puzzle, which wasn't too challenging. As for our shoes, they went to the top.
Next, both Faina and I prepared to get clean. The bathroom was quite the experience. Between every mirrored panel, there was an equal width of empty space. As you walk by, you'd get surprised - is that person on this side or that side? And where am I?
Then I encountered the friendliest toilet of all. When I entered the stall, it opened its mouth and greeted me with a blue light.
Now, check out this hallway of two-storied pods. Each pod was marked with a number, incidentally making the floor look like a ruler. The slippers camouflage with the floor, so we tidied them up to avoid confusion.
Since my phone battery was almost dead, I started charging it first. Next up, a little organization. The pod was narrow enough for some light stretching. Even though it was December, it was getting quite toasty inside. Around 5 a.m., though, things cooled down a bit.
Before going to sleep, I had to edit and upload a video. It was 11:14 p.m., so I went to the lounge for better posture. I made some progress by 2:45 a.m. Interestingly, I was about to turn 30 in two hours. I was the only one in the lounge, and I liked it. The janitor passed by and neatly aligned the chairs with such precision. An adjacent building looked like it was pointing its index finger into the sky, even giving a thumbs up.
Three days later, I stayed at another capsule hotel from the same company but a different branch, located near the airport. The shower rooms were identical, like a perfect copy and paste. The pajama uniform dresses, at least for females, were also the same. The men's sleeping pods were on the other side of the hotel.
Stay tuned for more Japan videos! In the meantime, check out my other travel vlogs and get updates on my social media. See you in a few days!
