Hello everyone! Let's dive into the Globeland tutorial, a creative partnership where I received a set of lovely pompoms and matching tags. In the set, there are craft paper tags and white paper tags designed for making bookmarks. The craft paper doesn't seem too bad in terms of thickness, although I noticed a small film on one side of the tags, giving it a slightly plastic feel. We’ll test on both sides anyway.

Supplies and Setup

For this project, I gathered some Distress Oxide inks and prepared my beloved brushes. I also made some cutouts with Globeland dies, which I bought in the same order. Now, let's get into the tutorial!

Creating the Background

To begin, I decided to make a distressed background. I chose various shades of pink that would harmoniously match. I started with the side that had the shiny film, but quickly realized that the ink wasn’t absorbing well. So, I turned the tag over and started working on the more absorbent side. I created a gradient background to add depth. After drying the first layer, I added a second layer to intensify the colors.

Stenciling

Next, I used a stencil to add some texture. Using the Flamingo Quiche shade, I applied the stencil pattern for a more marked effect. I always rinse my stencils quickly to avoid staining.

Building the Shaker Elements

For the actual shaker elements, I used the sewing mannequin and spool dies. I cut out several layers to build a thick, rigid base. I glued the layers together, leaving a window for adding sequins. After adding a piece of acetate for the window, I glued it carefully to avoid any glue spreading inside.

Adding Embellishments

I finished by adding a few details: some stamped sentiments, a couple of buttons, and even some washi tape for extra flair. Finally, I added tiny gold droplets using Sparks watercolors to tie everything together.
