Wireless Repeater Router WiFi Signal Extender (TVBOX MUST HAVE)
Introduction
I recently purchased an inexpensive TV box, but quickly ran into a common issue: weak Wi-Fi signals. To solve this problem, I decided to try a Wi-Fi signal extender. In this article, I'll walk you through my experience, from identifying the problem to successfully increasing the Wi-Fi strength.
Identifying the Issue
Initially, my Comcast router was located on the main floor, while I wanted to place the TV box in the basement. The weak signal prevented the TV box from functioning effectively. As shown in the picture below, my initial location for setting up the router didn't help much in boosting the signal.
Initial Setup and Testing
I found that for some of these TV boxes, the Wi-Fi needs to be virtually right beside the device. So, I repositioned the extender directly underneath the TV box. I plan to eventually mount the extender near an electrical outlet on the wall, close to the TV box for better performance.
Before Using the Extender
Here are the internet speeds I was getting when connecting directly to my Comcast router:
As you can see, the speeds were extremely weak and not usable at all. My aim was to achieve at least 10 Mbps to be able to download content effectively.
After Using the Extender
After placing the Wi-Fi extender on the floor, the speeds improved significantly. Here's a screenshot of the results:
With these improved speeds, I can now use my TV box downstairs without any connectivity issues.
Conclusion
If you're facing similar connectivity issues with your TV box, consider using a Wi-Fi signal extender. It made a significant difference for me. I've provided a link below to the Wi-Fi extender I used, which cost me only $ 11. It's worth a try and could solve your connectivity problems too.
