Six weeks - that's all I have left until I start my next batch of querying. Surprisingly, I actually enjoy the querying process. There's a certain satisfaction in getting everything ready for the submission guidelines and then hitting that submit button. However, what I truly detest are the rejections and the agonizing waiting period that follows.

At the moment, I have six weeks to hear back from 17 or 18 agents. Unfortunately, the rest have sent rejections my way. Statistically speaking, these remaining submissions will likely end up as rejections as well because they've been out for quite a while. But who knows? Sometimes agents request material later than expected.

If luck isn't on my side and none of the agents request a full manuscript this time around, it will really suck. In such a case, two things will happen: first, I'll embark on my second batch of querying. And second, if no one requests a full, I'll have to get my query letter and pages reviewed. Because, frankly, I'm on my third revision and I feel the pages look really good, but you never know until you get professional feedback.
