Step 2: Go to YouTube Studio

Navigate to your YouTube Studio and click on the "Monetization" tab. Make sure you're using a desktop to see everything clearly. You’ll see the requirements, which include:

• 1,000 subscribers
• 4,000 watch hours
• Two-step verification
• No community strikes

Previously, the monetization requirements were set at 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours. Now, you can also be eligible with 500 subscribers, three uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3 million public short views or 3,000 watch hours. These metrics allow you to open memberships, enable Super Chat, and even start shopping features.

Step 3: Meet the Requirements

Once you meet the necessary thresholds, toggle the "Notify me when I get this threshold" button. When you reach it, YouTube will notify you. Accept to join the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and undergo a channel review which checks for community strikes or reused content.

Step 4: Turn On Ads

After being fully accepted into the YPP, you can start turning on ads. You’ll need at least $ 10 in your account for the next steps, including verifying your identity.

The next step is to verify your address. Google will send a PIN to your local post office. This step is tricky for Nigerians due to unreliable postal services. You have four chances to request the PIN. If it doesn't arrive, contact Google Support to manually verify it.

Step 7: Address Verification Tips

Check multiple post offices in your area. If the first PIN doesn’t arrive, try another address or a friend’s address with a functioning post office nearby. After exhausting online attempts, Google Support can manually verify your account.

Step 8: Tax Identification Number

Step 9: Input Your Banking Info

Finally, input your banking information. A domiciliary account is recommended for the best conversion rates. Once all these steps are done, you can start earning money.
